We set aside this day to rent a car and travel the southern Swedish country side. Stopped off in several small towns, visited some seaside resorts, enjoyed the sunshine and beautiful landscape.

first we visited the Tivoli Gardens, a vast amustment park in the middle of downtown Copenhagen. Then we visited an area of Copenhagen called Christiania, which has a long and colorful history. Still a bit worn out by the overseas trip, we called it a night relatively early.

We arrived quite late. By the time we settled into the apartment it was 3AM and the sun was coming up.
The next day, getting a late start, went on a boat tour of the canals. Ate lunch on the canal bank amid a lot of Danes sunbathing. Rode bicycles to dinner (Indian food) and then rode all around the city in a light rain until 1AM.

Flight Preparations

Preparing for our embarkation, we are notified of a change of equipment. Major European Airlines, on which we are flying, in cost saving measures, are resurrecting older equipment to serve the needs of current passengers.

We note that our flight across the Atlantic may be more adventurous than originally planned….

Good Friends

The summer of 2015 will be a journey of discovery; we go in search of our roots. L.’s grandparents were born in Sweden and immigrated to the USA before WWII. We travel in search of these ancestors and the realm from which they arose. We will make our way from Denmark, through Norway, to Sweden and Finland. We will report on what we find and how the good people of Scandinavia are doing today, and how we will fare in their midst. We hope this journey will be informative, enlightening, and entertaining. Enjoy the ride.
