The summer of 2015 will be a journey of discovery; we go in search of our roots. L.’s grandparents were born in Sweden and immigrated to the USA before WWII. We travel in search of these ancestors and the realm from which they arose. We will make our way from Denmark, through Norway, to Sweden and Finland. We will report on what we find and how the good people of Scandinavia are doing today, and how we will fare in their midst. We hope this journey will be informative, enlightening, and entertaining. Took the train to Arles, but 1st stopped off at the market for coffee and snacks. Checked out Roman ruins in Arles. Very hot all day. Train back and dinner at home in Avignon.
Got a late start on the day, hey it’s vacation. Visited Palais des Papes, a monumental gothic edifice. It took us most of the day. walked out on the bridge of Avignon, and had dinner in a very old part of town.
Rental bicycles across the Rhône to a large island in the middle of the river. Visited the The Angladon-Dubrujeaud museum. Quite warm, 95° F.
